Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pathstone.
Associate
The interview was pretty conversational, mostly focusing on behavioral questions. They wanted to know about how I problem-solve, my teamwork skills, how I learn, my project management abilities, and how I interact with clients. There were also some technical questions about making investment recommendations and managing client expectations.
- If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be and why?
Associate
The interview process was pretty quick, taking about 3-4 weeks total. It kicked off with a 20-minute phone screen with HR. Then, I had a second interview with the person I'd be reporting to. The final round involved three back-to-back interviews with client managers. Everyone was really nice, and the interviews felt more like conversations. They were mainly trying to see how I'd handle myself in a professional setting.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in wealth/investment management, and specifically Pathstone?
- What do you understand about this Associate role?
- Could you give me an overview of your resume?
Associate
The interview experience was alright, and some of the people seemed friendly. I felt I interviewed quite well. My main issue is that they were really vague about why I wasn't selected for the next stage. It made me wonder if they have a preferred candidate type, like a 25-year-old white man, which I don't fit. Ironically, the person who previously held this job was a white college grad who also didn't work out. It seems like they're just repeating the same hiring mistakes.
- What motivated your choice of field of study?
