Direct Support Professional Job Coach
It was presented as a phone screening, but it was actually in-person after a career fair. Two recruiters were present, though one spoke more than the other. They wrote down my answers to screening questions on paper as I spoke. I didn't hear back after the screening until I was contacted for an interview months later. I picked an interview time from the email and asked about the meeting location. Even after sending another email asking for the location, I never received a response or confirmation, so I didn't attend the interview. They called later to apologize for the mix-up and asked to reschedule, but I declined.
- Can you tell me about your relevant past experiences for this role?
DSP
After the initial phone screen, I proceeded to a one-on-one interview with the program coordinator. She was great. The interview questions were challenging but manageable. Since I lacked extensive experience in this field, it was tougher for me than it might be for someone more experienced.
- Can you share an example of a time when you [situation]?
- What makes you the most suitable candidate for this role?
- Are you able to commit to at least a one-year term?
DSP Engineer
The interview process felt very disorganized. The HR manager seemed new, and there were multiple calls back and forth. When I arrived for the office interview, it was unattended, and employees walked by with clients without acknowledging me. My first interview was with the department manager, who was nice. The second interview was with the local VP, who also seemed nice, but the interaction was very casual and overly friendly, almost seeming fake and not professional enough for a VP. The callback and screening process was disorganized, leaving me unsure if I would get hired. I was looking for other jobs during this screening period.
- Can you share an experience where you had to handle issues with a coworker?
Independent Living Instructor
I had two interviews that were each about two hours long with the manager and assistant manager. I was asked to do a long essay response right there in front of them, which I wasn't expecting and felt a bit awkward about. The overall vibe was pretty chill and relaxed. It did take quite a while to get through the whole process, from being called back to finally completing the background check.
- Tell me about your prior experience in this area.
- What are your strategies for handling situations involving behavioral issues?
- How do you approach establishing boundaries?
