First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Patelco Credit Union.
Product Manager
The process has several steps: first a recruiter call, then a hiring manager chat, followed by a panel interview, then a department head chat, and finally 2 business partners. The panel interview includes a case study presentation. After the last interview, the hiring decision was made really quickly, and then we talked about compensation.
- How do you handle stress?
VP
I'm still really happy with how my hiring process went at Patelco. I've been in my new job for 94 days now. The interviews let me really see the organization from a peer level and talk to all sorts of leaders, right up to the CEO. The process was well-thought-out, which I think helped make sure I wouldn't have any early problems settling in. Usually, people realize in the first week or two if they don't like the culture or if the job isn't what they thought. A few people leave within 60 to 90 days. My interactions with my team and the leaders at Patelco have matched up exactly with what I expected from the interviews.
- Tell me about your leadership style.
Vice President
It was a two-round interview process. The first was with the hiring manager, and the second was with a group of executives. The interviews were pretty laid-back and conversational. During the exec interview, it became obvious they didn't really know much about the job. After the second interview, the recruiter promised to follow up but ghosted me, which was really unprofessional.
- Tell me about your background in this specific job role.
- Can you describe your experience within the financial services industry?
Member Service Representative
So I applied online and then got a call from a recruiter pretty fast, like within two days. She jumped right into a phone interview and asked a bunch of stuff. A few days after that, she called back saying the job I applied for was already filled but they'd keep my resume. Then, a bit later, the same recruiter hit me up about a different position that was opening up. I said yeah, I'd interview for it, and they scheduled me for an in-person interview right away. Before the in-person, they sent an email with all the interview details, like who I'd meet and where to go. I got there early, and they took me back right on time. I met with the manager and another person from the team. The interview itself was pretty smooth, especially since I'd done my homework – researched the company, looked up what a credit union is, and practiced common interview questions. They asked a lot of 'Tell me about a time when...' questions and also the standard 'Do you have any questions for us?' one. It was a good vibe, they were friendly, and we even shared a few laughs. I actually got an offer the same day and accepted it. Basically, do your research, be ready for anything, and it'll be way less stressful!
