& Process

So after I applied, they called me for a phone chat with the HR Manager a few days later. It was like a 30-45 minute talk about me, my work history, the company, and the job. Then, they sent me a coding task where I had to build a basic full-stack app. They were pretty chill about the deadline, letting me pick. I asked for two weeks because I was swamped. They checked my code and then set up an in-person interview about 4-5 business days after I sent it in, which was the next week. In that interview, I talked to the CTO, VP, Team Leads, and Senior Engineers for a technical part, and then with the VP of People Ops and Director of Product for a behavioral chat. All in all, it was a great experience, I always knew what was going on, and Passport was super helpful. The only sticky point was some email issues with my Gmail, which sometimes acted up with their HR system. If you don't hear back, try finding a Passport email on their site and follow up, maybe it was just email trouble. They did sort out the technical glitches with me though, so it wasn't a big deal.

It was a very laid-back chat style interview. The first bit was more about culture and personality, the second part focused on experience. The last part, at least the one I went through, was fun and in a group. The main thing was the absence of women in the process (6 men interviewing, 0 women), and the women present were few and not in leadership roles. The executive board is all male, and the 'bro-culture' is really apparent. They also don't seem to have a set timeline for decisions. It could take 4 days or 4 weeks to get through everything, and you won't know either way, but you're still lucky to even get an interview with them.

My interview experience with Passport went very well. Although it was a long process (about two months) I totally understand the reason behind the detail and their process. The communication from beginning to end was flawless and their HR team is wonderful! Even when I had one off type of questions that I needed an answer to someone was always happy to help me. Then, they sent me a task to complete within a specific timeframe, dealing with some HR scenarios. After that, I had another phone chat with a senior person. The final stage seemed to be in-person interviews where I met more leaders, talked about my experience, and we all asked and answered questions.
