Oil Rig Floor Hand
The interview process is pretty straightforward. They'll ask about your experience in the oilfield, or similar experience. Having oilfield experience will definitely help, but if you have experience in construction or rigging, or even just have the desire and willingness to learn, that will certainly help you be considered.
- What is your level of oilfield experience?
Plant Operator
The interview began with introductions where we identified ourselves. Then, I was asked about my experience with specialized heavy equipment and machine types, my education and documentation, and my background in different operational fields.
- How did you learn about the job opening?
- Can you detail your experience with specific heavy machinery and equipment?
- What is your educational background and what documentation do you possess?
Roustabout
The job involves a variety of tasks, including installing and repairing tanks, digging pits and lines, and general cleanup. You'll be responsible for setting up well equipment like cement pads and pumping units, and securing them. This includes tying down pumping units and balancing them with counterweights. You'll also install and fix different types of pipelines (drisco, steel, PVC), haul pipe and rods, and do general maintenance on the yard and buildings. Hauling gravel for tank batteries and roads is also part of it, as is cleaning up oil spills. Proficiency with all tools, including air and electrical, is a must.

Electrician
The staff at the Anchorage office were really great and made me feel comfortable even though I was nervous. The interviewer was nice and asked a lot of technical questions because it's a technical job. They showed me some electrical symbols and asked me to identify them. I got a job offer from the HR manager the same day. I didn't realize how bad the people in the field were or what a terrible job it was until I started working, but the interviewer and office staff were great.
- The interviewer handed me a sheet with electrical blueprint symbols and asked me to identify them, which caught me off guard but I managed.
- Be ready for a lot of technical questions from someone knowledgeable in the field.
