First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Parker Hannifin.
Design Engineer
I met them at the fair and a few weeks later I had an onsite interview. It included a lab tour and a plant tour that took up half the day. After that, I had lunch with two engineers who also showed me around Kearney, NE. Then I had two panel interviews, each lasting about 45 minutes. They asked basic questions about my resume and wanted to know more about me. They also talked a bit about the position and its responsibilities. Lastly, they gave me a chance to ask questions. They mentioned they would get back to me in 2-3 weeks. Following that, I had an interview with HR where she asked basic admin questions and about salary. I asked for 65K, but I don't think they were willing to pay that much, maybe 60K or less, which I think was the main reason I didn't get an offer. The cost of living in Kearney, NE is high, and Parker doesn't pay well. I ended up getting a better offer elsewhere. I did like the inside of the building, the cafeteria, and the food.

- Would you like to tell us more about yourself?

A recruiter reached out, and I had a phone interview that lasted 95 minutes, mostly covering my experience. After that, I went to an in-person interview which included a plant tour. This panel interview, lasting 150 minutes, focused on experience, ethics, and situational questions. I was then invited for a second interview for a different role. This second panel interview was 120 minutes long and involved situational questions and some experience-based ones. Finally, I received a skills and problem-solving questionnaire and had to write essays for 12 questions. A research firm evaluated the skills and problem-solving part. Overall, it was a good experience, the panels were relaxed, and they rotated questions. Some questions were unique to the panel, not on the standard list. The situational questions were clear, and I felt confident in my answers.
- Can you share an instance of handling a challenging individual?
- What actions would you take if the issue with that person continued unresolved?
Engineer
It was a long process. I applied online and heard back from Parker, a recruiter, after a couple of weeks. First, there was a phone screen, then a call with the hiring manager where they asked basic questions about my background. They scheduled an on-site interview a few weeks after that. It was a panel interview with seven people from different departments, and they asked both behavioral and technical questions. The team seemed friendly, but you really need to be prepared, or you'll bomb the interview. My interview actually went pretty well, but they do tend to favor internal candidates.
