First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Parker Hannifin.
Accountant
HR reached out for an interview, then I spoke with the team leader for the role. It was a chill vibe. We spoke some in our local language and then switched to English. They asked the standard stuff like how I handle pressure and about a past career challenge.
- Can you tell us about your ideal employer and the kind of work environment you prefer?
- Could you share the biggest challenge you've faced in your career and how you managed it?
- How do you manage working under pressure and meeting deadlines?
Accountant
So I was a temp for this company and it took me nearly two years to actually get hired on. The interview itself was pretty straightforward. First, I met with two managers, and then had a follow-up interview with another pair of managers. Once I was done with the interviews, I got an offer immediately, which I kind of expected. I wasn't actually planning on staying long-term because my contract was supposed to be only 6-8 weeks, but it ended up dragging out so long that I didn't get any benefits and felt like I wasted two years of my career there when I could have been working somewhere else.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next five years?
Accountant
So I interned for the company for two summers and then they brought me in for full time interviews at their corporate HQ in Cleveland, Ohio. I met with 3 VPs and one HR rep, and I had a different walking guide take me to each interview room. All the interviews were 1-on-1 and conversational/behavioral. It started as a QA but then turned into talking about hobbies, goals, future hopes, and where I saw myself in 5-10 years. They really wanted to know WHO I am and WHAT I want, and it's obvious they care about their employees and personal development. A lot of hiring is based on character and my personality and work ethic align with my team and division. Parker does a good job of hiring personable, self-motivated people who can coexist and create ideas to solve business problems. If you intern, the full-time interviews are mostly a handshake deal. Best tip? Be yourself, be honest, ask them about their experiences, and know how you want to contribute and develop yourself.
