I had a scheduled phone interview with an HR rep at 8 AM, but they didn't show up and I waited for about 30 minutes. They rescheduled for the next day. Then, the Friday before the July 4th weekend, the HR person emailed me saying that she and the hiring manager decided they needed someone with more forecasting skills, even though I thought my skills matched their job description very well. I think the HR person might have been acting strangely because I even reached out to her manager about the missed initial interview. Luckily, I had already received an offer from a much better company the day before they told me they were moving on to other candidates.

I went through two interviews for this role, and both were with executives, including the CEO. The whole thing took 6 hours onsite. It took six weeks between the first and second interviews before I got rejected. The reason they gave was a bit unclear, saying I might not be a good fit because I wouldn't be able to relate to Engineers, who make up a big chunk of their staff. Looking back, maybe I dodged a bullet because they seemed to want organization development but didn't really grasp that change takes time and effort, as they kept mentioning how busy the engineers are. It's an interesting company with a history, but the benefits are just okay, and the current culture and offices don't seem that special. Honestly, unless you're really set on this specific industry, top OD folks can probably find better opportunities right now.
