First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PaperCut Software.
Channel Operations Specialist
The first interview was with a recruiter/People Partner and was a good experience overall. I felt the conversation went well. I asked about the timeline for hearing back, and was told via email within a week. It's now been three weeks with no response, and my application status shows "archived". There's no contact info for the company, which is frustrating. I also found it odd that a company focused on environmental impact uses AI for HR, which seems counterproductive. I don't think they are living up to their values of honesty and caring.
- Can you elaborate on your background in Channel Operations?
Product Marketing Manager
This was a phone interview with general questions. The process felt dismissive, not valuing previous experience, and the interview itself was combative. It's a two-way street, and they should remember that, even with the current job market. The job was re-advertised later, likely due to a negative company culture that doesn't seem to value its hires.
- What sparked your interest in this specific role?
- Tell me, why Papercut?
- Could you explain your understanding of this job's responsibilities?
Product Engineer
It started with a recruiter call to talk about the company and how they operate. Then, an online interview with a product manager happened, covering basic questions about you and your past experience. After that, a take-home coding challenge was given. The final stage was an online session with three segments: an extension to the coding challenge, a behavioral interview, and a product whiteboarding session. This final session usually happens on campus and lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours, but it felt manageable because the interviewers were friendly. The coding challenge extension can be tough because it's quite subjective. The behavioral part involved straightforward questions about your previous work methods. The product whiteboarding was an interactive part where we designed a solution for a problem together, with interviewers asking questions to guide the thinking process.
- Can you share an instance where you made a request that was ultimately denied?
Solutions Architect
The interview process is thorough but thoughtful. Communication during the process was top notch even though I was one of two final candidates, I was always aware of where I was at in the process. The one thing that I would want to tell a potential candidate is that the process is indeed very thorough which can get tiring, but hang in there, the thorough interview process results in quality people who are a good fit for their role and the company culture. In past interviews, the further I went in the process, the more confident I was about a potential offer. With this process, you may be one of two candidates that go through the full interview process and only after those steps is a decision made - so remain hopeful but best not to assume. It is worth the process. Come ready to be professional, intelligent, and breathe a little - PaperCut wants humans (with personality and all).
- Can you explain key technology and networking terms and their use-cases?
