After doing well on Paper-Check's skills test, I had a 45-minute phone chat with the CEO. He asked about my formal editing background and if I was clear on the job expectations. He went over the pay and commission details and happily answered my questions about the job.

The interview was a bit confusing. I was in an office building, and told that if I got the job I would work there. But once hired, the job was moved to what looked like a residential building under construction in a dangerous part of town. I really wish I had thought to ask about this during the interview. Before the interview, I was wondering why papercheck's website and a site called Proof-reading looked so similar. It seemed they had the same business model, fees, and possibly the same clients. I wish I had asked about this during the interview instead of being surprised later. I wasn't told if I might be working for both these companies/websites at the same time. I wish I'd asked, but I'd never had an interview where the place I was told I'd work and the company I was told I'd work for were both things I should question. Definitely the strangest and most misleading interview I've ever had.

This was actually a pretty involved process, which not only required the typical submission of resume/cover letter, but also some extensive testing on grammar and other editing skills, as well as an interview with the CEO. The hiring process was involved, but the interview itself was a breeze and fun.
