First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Palantir Technologies.
Recruiter
It was a pretty thorough process with 3 rounds. The first was a quick screening, then a deeper dive into experience and fit. The last round was the most demanding, about 2-3 hours long, and involved speaking with several international colleagues. Each conversation was unique, covering everything from CV and past experience discussions to case studies and practical tasks. Although I didn't get an offer, the recruiter who contacted me on LinkedIn called to provide feedback and thank me for participating, which I appreciated.
- Could you describe your thought process for conducting a LinkedIn search for a given typical recruiting scenario?
Recruiter
After an initial phone chat, it took over a week to maybe get a one-on-one interview set up for on-site. It was a bummer because they didn't seem to get that I'm juggling other interviews and would prefer to interview with Palantir more often than once every 4 weeks. Then, on the morning of the scheduled on-site interview, Palantir bailed with no warning, completely disregarding that I'd rearranged my whole day and prepped for it. It was pretty shocking, honestly, and a first for me with any employer. They really should have just gone ahead with the interview that day using different people, like any other company would. After they cancelled, the team told me they were switching me back to the first role I applied for, even though they'd initially said I was a better fit for the campus role. That just seemed like pure incompetence, not thinking ahead that the campus role would be filled quickly after the phone interview. Again, a first for me, and it was a really bad vibe. To top it all off, after all the email tag and wasted time, I find out they're not even hiring a recruiter until mid-to-late June. Then they said I 'misunderstood' the process on the phone, when really, they just didn't make it clear. The lack of care and honesty, especially after I told them I was further along with other companies, just makes Palantir the absolute worst to interview with.
- Could you walk me through your resume?
- What makes you interested in this position?
Technical Recruiter
The interview began with a basic HR screening that was very direct. I asked about standard benefits, but it seemed like classified information as I was told "that's private information." Noted. The next phone interview had a rocky start because the talent acquisition rep was 10 minutes late without any prior notification. Several questions were posed. The interviewer seemed hesitant, as if reading from a script and reluctant to ask the questions. The interview itself wasn't challenging, but it was definitely unusual, very unusual.
- Imagine your manager is let go tomorrow and you're promoted to their role, what's the very first thing you'd do? (they're not looking for the 'hire another recruiter' response- asked in a hesitant tone)
- What do you dislike about your boss? (asked in a hesitant tone)
