The whole thing was basically just a casual chat and then a painting test. We started with a chill conversation about what the job is all about, like what you'd have to do, when you'd work, and how much you'd get paid. The folks in charge, the manager and co-manager, then asked me a bit about my background and past gigs, like if I'd ever taught before. That bit didn't even take 30 mins. Then, they had me copy a painting – a landscape sunset – and I had about an hour for it, though they said to take my time and go over if needed. Once I was done, they came back to check out my painting and gave me some pointers. Then we wrapped things up.

First, I had to do a painting task within 45 minutes. After I passed that, I had an interview and was hired right away. They told me 'you either fit in or you don't', and I got an employee handbook. The expectations were to 'be a rock star,' which was a vague term they used when they didn't want to explain things. The rules kept changing a lot. I expected some training, but it never happened. I was just thrown in and then criticized for things they could have easily explained.

The interview process was pretty standard for a paint and sip place. I had to do a mock class, which can be a bit nerve-wracking since it's just you and the manager or owner, but it's pretty typical for these kinds of jobs. After that, I had a regular interview.
