Software Engineer
The hiring process was very efficient. It kicked off with a recruiter call, followed by a 30-minute chat with the hiring manager. Then, there were two one-hour technical interviews: one involved a live coding challenge (not LeetCode style) and the other focused on system design. The final stage was a 30-minute discussion with the senior manager overseeing the team. The recruiter was prompt, getting back within a day after each interview to set up the next step. The entire experience, from start to finish, took about three weeks and was quite smooth and pleasant throughout.
- Could you write a small program that utilizes their API?

The whole thing was 5 rounds. First, a recruiter call, then two behavioral interviews, followed by a live coding session, and finally a system design round. For the system design part, I had to prepare a design diagram beforehand. The whole process stretched out over nearly a month. I felt like I did well in all the interviews and got good feedback, but then they ended up choosing someone else, which was pretty strange.
- There were an excessive amount of behavioral questions for a tech position, to the point of exhaustion.
- The live coding challenge involved building a basic UI, nothing overly complex.
- System design discussion about a project of my choice from my past or current experience.

So after they looked at my resume, the interview was split into a technical part and then a behavioral part. The technical interview started out with a take home assignment where I had to build an MVP of a cookbook app. Then, during the interview itself, I was asked to add features you'd expect in a cookbook, like handling dishes and ingredients. About a week and a half later, I got an invite for the behavioral interview. They asked pretty standard questions and also checked my availability for the internship. I got an offer about a week after that! It was a pretty nice experience overall, even if the interviewers weren't super fast to respond, they were all really nice and encouraging.
- Implement cookbook app MVP functionality.
- Implement features for working with individual dishes and ingredients.
- Improve the cookbook app MVP beyond simple parameter additions.
