Product Manager
Got a quick outreach from the recruiter after applying. Had a 20-minute phone screen, then a 60-minute hiring manager phone interview. The whole afternoon was an on-site interview with 5 different people from Product, Engineering, and Marketing. Followed by a final on-site with Product leadership. It was a great process from start to finish. The people were fantastic, paid attention to me, and treated me well. This was a big reason I accepted the offer.
- What is your hiring plan?
Product Manager
I first had a Technical recruiter phone screen which was followed by a phone screen by the VP of Product. I was then asked to come in for 4 hrs of in person interviews. The folks I spoke with were smart and personable and the office had a nice vibe to it with daily lunches provided. You should have some fairly deep experience with issues and goals around DevOps/ITOps process/management in order to de-risk an important hire for them.
- What's your process for deciding whether to launch a feature?
- Can you describe a time you had a miscommunication with engineering and how you fixed it?
- What makes you a good fit to lead our strategic product offering?
Product Manager
I had two initial phone calls. The first one was with a recruiter, and then I spoke with the person I'd be reporting to. After that, I went into the office for a full day of interviews. It was a mix of structured interviews and more casual chats. The structured ones were about product and technical topics, where I had to work through some situations and answer questions. The casual chats were more about getting to know me and letting me meet my potential coworkers. It felt like a thorough but fair process, and I actually enjoyed it.
- A candidate with a good grasp of technology, how technical limitations affect product solutions, pricing strategies, determining product market fit, user experience design, and agile development should do well.
