It's a lot of interviews, like 5-6, where they really make you work for it, possibly leading to you being let go after a year. The interviews themselves are pretty standard, with different people asking the same questions. In between, they give you assignments, which is basically free work. The final step is a presentation to a panel about your work. It felt like a waste of time and poorly coordinated, as I had to repeat myself a lot.

The interview process at PagerDuty was honestly one of the smoothest and most respectful I’ve experienced. It was clear, well-organized, and moved at a good pace — no unnecessary delays or surprises. It started with an intro call with the recruiter, who was super friendly and explained everything clearly. Then I had a few video interviews with the hiring manager and some team members. Everyone I spoke with was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely interested — not just in my experience, but also in who I am as a person. What stood out was how natural the conversations felt. It didn’t feel like I was being grilled — it felt more like mutual exploration. Communication was clear and consistent the whole way through, and I never felt left in the dark. Overall, it was a really positive experience — fast, transparent, and human.

I applied online and got an email from the recruitment coordinator to set up a call with the Manager. Then, I was called into the office for about 5 hours. I met with the teams, had discussions with various members via Google Hangout, and delivered a presentation. The interview seemed to go very well. Later, another recruiter, who wasn't even part of the hiring process, called to inform me they'd chosen someone with more experience. Given my 10+ years for this mid-level role, I'm unsure how much more experience they were seeking. I emailed them seeking a clear explanation for the rejection but received no reply. It seems like either the process is flawed, or they lack clarity on their hiring needs. It also suggests they might not prioritize diversity or equal opportunity hiring.
