First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PagerDuty.
Technical Account Manager
the interview process included an initial screening call with a recruiter and then an interview with the hiring manager. the next step was supposed to be a technical exercise, but the process ended after the second stage. the hiring manager missed the call, showing up 30 minutes late, and during our conversation, I discovered the job description was very different from what was published. the role was actually for a subsidiary company (rundek) and not PagerDuty, being a mix of professional services, support, and TAM. I think my disappointment showed, and a week later the recruiter let me know they decided to proceed with other candidates.
- Can you tell me about your experience and your familiarity with the product, Linux, and integrations?
Enterprise Account Manager
The interview process felt more focused on cultural fit for someone aiming to maximize current revenue rather than driving company growth. Pagerduty is in the midst of a significant transformation, and their interviewing approach seemed misaligned with the needs of the positions they were trying to fill.
- Can you describe your approach to collaborating with colleagues?
Account Manager
Had a call with a recruiter to check my background and skills. Then, a call with the manager to go over my background, skills, and what I'm looking for in terms of goals and needs. Finally, did a presentation for the VP, Director, and Manager to test my skills. They really focused on discovery, but also the technical stuff needed to demo and understand the product.
- What are your general questions about your past experience, process, and personality?
- How do you approach discovery and demo?
