Facilitator
First, I had a screening phone call that was pretty basic. Then, I had an interview with the supervisor and HR, which was also pretty basic. Everyone was really nice and it wasn't hard at all.
- Can you explain, in simple terms like you're talking to a 7-year-old, why failing is actually important for success?
Payroll Specialist
I had an in person interview with a temporary HR consultant who seemed to be overhauling the payroll department in 2016. They let me know that they offered the position to an internal candidate.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
Exhibit Host
There were interview parts we had to do. One part was puzzles. They split us into groups and gave us a puzzle to put together per group. After a while they started making the puzzle harder by taking the box away, then having us be silent, then putting our dominant arm behind our back. It all was to see how well we could communicate with each other under odd circumstances. Next part we had to act out a scene showing how we'd respond to various guest issues. Afterwards we discussed various parts of the exhibit and we asked whatever questions we had. Overall they just really wanted to see how well we communicated with one another.
- How would you handle a technical difficulty with the intro video?
Usher
We had a group interview with about 10 other people, some applying for Usher and some for Concessions. A panel of about 5 supervisors from different departments (usher, concessions, laser) and the theater operation head were there. They asked the group easy situational questions about handling guest interactions in unusual situations. We indicated our answers by moving to different sides of the room, and they picked a few people from each side to explain their reasoning. Later, we broke into smaller groups and rotated to talk with each supervisor more personally. For the Usher roles, we had to prepare and deliver a short speech about a movie using provided information. At the end, we had to anonymously pick one person from the group we thought should be hired and write it down. After the interview, I got an email asking for references.
- How would you handle guest interactions in various, often improbable, scenarios?
