First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pacific Gas and Electric.
Change Management
I was hired for this contract work after going through five rounds of interviews, which honestly felt like too many if you're really on top of your game. They had me come back because some people who were supposed to interview me weren't available for the earlier sessions. Because the scheduling wasn't great, they ended up asking me the same questions a few times, which was fine by me. I just answered them and added any extra info I could think of for the new interviewers.
- Regarding the technologies we use, have you had experience with them on past projects?
- Can you discuss your background and expertise in change management?
- Could you walk me through a particular project and detail your specific contributions to it?
Manager
They use an online tool to pull out important resume info, leaving out extra stuff that might bias the first look. First up is the HR check to see if folks meet the basic job needs. Internal people get priority, which is a perk of working there. Hiring managers have a lot of freedom in how they hire, so there's no set rule on who has to be part of the final decision.
- Could you describe your ideal job and explain your reasoning?
Senior Manager
The recruiting and interview process was very professional. They initially stated they didn't have internal candidates, but I suspect the role may have gone to someone internal, though I'm not certain.
- As a finalist for this position, why do you believe you are the best candidate for us to hire?
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging manager who was shouting at you, disregarded your input, and appeared agitated and upset. What actions did you take in response?
