First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pacific Gas and Electric.
Intern
The whole interview was behavioral. They want to know how you handle tough times and what you do when things get hard, like facing setbacks, problems, or unexpected issues at work.
- What's your approach when facing adversity?
- Tell me about how you handle challenges.
- How do you deal with setbacks?
Intern
After about a month of applying, I got an email asking me to record a video answering six questions. The email only gave instructions on setting up my space, not what the questions would be about. When I started recording, the first question popped up, giving me about 20-30 seconds to prep before a 2-minute recording. You could re-record answers, though they didn't say you should. Since I'm not a pro at this, I re-recorded each question more than once to get the best answer within the time limit. My application wasn't continued, so I don't know what happened next or if re-recording affected anything. You can draw your own conclusions.
- What motivates you to want to work at PG&E?
- Can you share an instance where you prioritized or enforced safety in your personal life?
- Tell me about a project you found particularly memorable that has equipped you for this role.
IT Intern
I met with the recruiter at an event and we talked about an internship. They were impressed and set up an interview for the next day. I had the interview on Friday morning, and by Monday morning, I had an offer! It was a really smooth process, and the recruiters were super efficient. The questions felt more like a conversation, where one answer led to the next question, rather than a quiz.
- Why are you interested in working for PG&E?
- Can you tell me about your experience working in teams?
- Have you ever had a difficult teammate? How did you manage that situation?
