Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pacific Gas and Electric.
Financial Analyst
Because I was an out-of-town candidate, the process started with two phone interviews and then an on-site interview. The questions asked weren't really that hard, and the whole experience was just okay. During the on-site, the people I met didn't seem very welcoming, and I didn't get a good feeling about relocating. There were four one-on-one interviews where they mostly read questions from a list, and many questions were repeated across interviews. There was a simple test at the end. After that, there was silence for about a month. Then, they asked me to do another phone interview with some senior members of the team, but I turned it down. Getting reimbursed for the expenses I incurred during the interview process has also been quite challenging.
- Can you tell me about your short-term and long-term career goals?
Financial Analyst
It was a normal hiring process with 3 rounds. They asked normal questions about experience, company knowledge, and hypothetical situations. HR could improve by better prepping interviewers. One interviewer made a joke about 'fashion modeling' when asking about Excel experience. Another interviewer misled me about the job's focus, saying it was 40% daily operations and the rest project management, when in reality it's 90% daily operations.
- Can you tell me about your recent projects?
- Which programs are you most comfortable using?
Finance Analyst
There were 2 interviews with 2 separate teams, and 4 people interviewing me in total. They talked about the role and structure openly. The interviewers seemed to have been with the company for a while.
- Tell me about a project you're proud of.
