First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pacific Gas and Electric.
Customer Service Representative
The process was pretty straightforward. You take a test, and if your scores are good enough, they'll give you a call for an interview. Really simple, no issues with it.
- Can you give an example of a time you handled a tough customer?
- Share a story about when you really made an effort for a customer.
- How do you manage when you have a lot of customers to help at the same time?
Customer Service Representative
So first they sent an email saying they would call me for a phone screen in the next few days, but without a specific time, so I had to be ready. Then I got another email with an invite for a video interview that was scheduled for about a week and a half later. During the interview, they had me do a simulation where I had to pretend to be working for a company and deal with an upset customer. About a week after that, I got a call telling me I got the offer.
- Can you share your relevant background for this role?
- What measures do you take to ensure safety, whether at home or at work?
- Describe a task that you accomplished as part of a team.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process for this role was quite lengthy, but ultimately worthwhile. I submitted applications for over 20 positions at PG&E throughout a year, checking the careers site daily for Customer Service openings. I applied for this specific role in May, and it wasn't until the last week of June that I received an email for a phone interview, which was very brief, lasting only about 3 questions. I was informed I'd get another email if I advanced. About 2.5 weeks later, I received an invitation for an in-person interview. This interview was long, and while the questions were straightforward, they were designed to be challenging. My advice is to take time to think before answering. Using the STAR method for your responses is highly recommended. The interviewers were very pleasant and put me at ease. Despite likely interviewing many candidates, I genuinely enjoyed the conversation. Be truthful and provide thorough answers; they can tell if you're being dishonest. Successful candidates receive a phone call to confirm their job offer. I got that call last week after a tense two-week wait. The compensation is less than reported on Glassdoor, but it is a union position and still a better opportunity than I anticipated. I'm very excited to start. Best of luck to all applicants!
- Can you share three personality traits that align well with the requirements of a Customer Service role?
