First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pace Communications.
Director of Project Management
The interviews were pretty standard for a corporate setting. I had about two or three chats with higher-ups, and then some more with people on the team who are a bit lower down, to see if I could do the job, fit in, and work well with others.
- Can you walk me through your process for managing a project from its start to finish?
Strategist
It was a 3 round video call process, with HR, the hiring manager, and then the hiring manager's manager. Each conversation was pretty relaxed, and we just chatted about my background, what I was hoping for in a new role, and how I'd tackle certain challenges.
- Would you say you're a fortunate individual?
Marketing
The interview was with the Ecommerce division. It was a one on one interview split into two parts. First, I met with the head of HR, then with the head of Marketing. The entire interview was about 45 minutes. This included time for me to ask my questions to both interviewers. I wish I had a bit more time with each interviewer and that their questions were a little more in depth, giving me a chance to show more of my skills and abilities. My perception of the office is that everyone I met seemed very nice but they were extremely busy. Like many companies, they were a little understaffed, so current employees had to pick up the slack. When asked about company culture, the Marketing Director said it was very team-oriented, with people often working across different functions to get tasks done.

UX Designer
A recruiter contacted me first. I mentioned my concerns about the position's seniority, as the job description required more experience than I have. The recruiter reassured me, stating it was a senior role but paid at a junior level. The first interview round had two interviewers, and it went well, I enjoyed the discussions. A week later, the recruiter called, saying they needed someone with more experience despite liking my work. They knew my experience level beforehand, so it felt like a waste of time. I was relieved to be rejected, given the negative Glassdoor reviews. I inquired about common trends, but the recruiter dismissed them. The interviewers addressed some, but concerns persisted. Also, the job duties were concerning, as they sought a 'unicorn.' I realized the role wasn't a good fit and am glad about the rejection.
- Can you tell me about your recent projects?
