Electricity Market Consultant
The whole interview process lasted for about 4 weeks. It kicked off with a 30-minute phone interview, which was pretty much a casual chat to go over your CV, but they might also dig into some specific details about the job. If you passed that, the next step was a face-to-face interview. This part was split into three sections. First, there was a general interview where they really went through your CV again and asked you some technical questions related to the role. After that, you had an hour dedicated to logical thinking tests to see how you approach problems. The final segment, lasting about 1 hour and 45 minutes, was a practical test involving Word and Excel.
- Could you discuss Capacity Factors in Renewable Electricity Generation?
- What are the Supporting Mechanisms for renewable energy?
- What are the Challenges in decarbonising the electricity sector in a country of your choice?
Mechanical Engineer
It was a pretty standard interview, not too tough for me since I had relevant experience and was actively engaged. I highlighted my BS in Mechanical Engineering, my license, and my 30 years of experience in Project Management, CCPP/GT & ST Power Plants, Thermal/Steam Power Plants, Diesel Power Plants, RO Desalination Plants, MED and MSF Desalting Plants, Chemical Plants, Boilers and Turbines, Condensers and Evaporators, Rotating Equipment, and Oil & Gas. My experience also covers Consultancy, Construction, Commissioning, Operation & Maintenance, Drafting, Scuba Diving (with a license), and familiarity with Health & Safety practices.
- Could you specify your years of experience working with Power and Desalination Plants?
Process Engineer
- Tell me about your specific technical experience.
- Can you detail your technical experience in the design of treatment plants?
- Could you describe your experience in developing technical documentation?
Energy Analyst
Got referred by someone who works there already, and after they looked at my CV, I had a phone chat about my past work and some specific things about recent energy projects. The last part was an assessment centre at their offices where I had a bunch of interviews with the director and senior consultants, and also did some analytical and reasoning tests.
- What's your motivation for applying to this position?
- Could you elaborate on your previous work experiences?
- Do you have any particular insights regarding recent energy-related initiatives?
