First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at P.J. Whelihan's Pub + Restaurant.
Hostess
The interview was pretty chill and laid back. I felt comfortable. They talked about my previous restaurant experience and mostly about any scheduling conflicts I might have. It was pretty standard stuff, nothing too surprising. They also made sure to explain what the job expectations were.
- What's your availability and do you have any time off requests?
- Can you tell me about your experience in restaurants?
- Are there any times you absolutely cannot work?
Bartender
I had a great interview and training experience. After getting the offer and completing training, I had to take a basic skills test and a menu knowledge test to show I knew the products before I could start working shifts.
- Can you describe your bartending experience and skills?
FP&A Lead
This was my first time applying to this company. I appreciated the interview, but it was the most awkward experience I've ever had. The interviewer seemed to confuse my application with someone else's, acting confused when I didn't know the person they mentioned. After about 5 minutes of discussing my current role and experience, I mentioned I liked my current position, and the interviewer tried to end the interview prematurely. This happened before they shared more details about the role or asked why I was interested in it.
- Can you describe your current responsibilities?
- Given that PJW currently lacks an FP&A team, what would be your strategy for establishing this role from the ground up?
Server
It was really easy to set up the interview and the general manager got back to me super fast. I heard back about an interview in less than two days after applying. The person who interviewed me was great and answered everything I asked.
- Tell me about your past experience working in a busy restaurant.
