First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oxford PharmaGenesis.
Medical Writer
The interview process was pretty thorough and gave me a lot of good info at each step. It began with a preliminary call to see if I was a good fit, then there was an assessment task, followed by interviews both online and in person. I found the whole experience enjoyable, feeling both challenged and well-supported throughout.
- Can you share your experience with us?
Medical Writer
The hiring process was incredibly slow and they barely communicated. The actual interviews were quick: a recruiter call, a writing test, and then a panel with three medical directors. But they made me wait a whole week between each step, and then a whole month after the panel before telling me they chose someone else. They never contacted me directly either. Super unprofessional communication. Don't apply if you need a job in less than six months.
- Can you describe the different types of deliverables you have experience with?
Communications Specialist
The recruitment process was good up until the decision was made that I wasn’t the right fit. There were several stages, including a panel interview, so I put a lot of time and effort into the application. I felt the final feedback wasn’t sincere, and my request for more details was ignored. The follow-up was disappointing; I had to chase the decision, which was delivered via email stating I wasn’t successful. For a communications agency and a senior role, I expected a phone call, especially since I was initially encouraged to apply. I believe they need to improve their candidate experience, as it felt quite exclusive, prioritizing whether they liked me over my interest in them. I was also told there were only a couple of positions, but it seems more people were hired, making me feel misled. This makes me doubt the accuracy and genuineness of the feedback, suspecting it was more about my perceived 'fit' or style rather than genuine reasons, likely due to the poor follow-up. I felt 'just dumped when someone decided I’m not the one' after investing significant time and effort.
- Were you aware of what you were applying for?
Project Coordinator
It was a two-stage interview process. The first interview was a phone screening with my potential manager and a team member. We talked about my past experience in medical communication firms, my reasons for wanting to join their company, and my dissertation topic and discoveries. The second interview was at their London office with the direct manager and a senior manager. It felt more like a discussion than a formal interview. They asked some competency-based questions, and we discussed my work experience and how I could use my skills in the job.
- What motivates you to seek employment within the medical communication sector?
