Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

The recruiter initially auto-rejected my application for the AE role. I then reached out directly to a department leader, highlighting my 15 years in restaurants (including ownership) and 10 years in outbound sales leadership. This got me an interview with the recruiter, who expressed enthusiasm for my background. We completed four interviews relatively quickly. Before the final interview, I was given a heads-up that it was essentially a 'vibe check' and the job was likely mine. However, after the final interview, I received an automated rejection email with no specific feedback. When I requested concrete feedback, citing my extensive experience and strong performance in the interviews (including a project), I was met with an email filled mostly with empty praise. It stated they were impressed with my 'sales acumen,' 'preparation,' and 'ability to handle objections and close deals,' and that my 'leadership experience is clear.' But then, it revealed they thought I'd be better suited for an Inbound AE role, which they didn't have openings for. This was surprising given my career focused on restaurant operations/ownership and building outbound sales teams, and that all four interviews focused on my outbound sales skills. Despite consistently asking about any hesitations and receiving 'emphatic no's' each time, the final decision indicated a clear disconnect. I felt the communication was insincere and dehumanizing, lacking the 'customer obsession' the company claims to value. The process was slow and unresponsive outside of the scheduled interviews, with ignored LinkedIn messages and a lack of camera use by the recruiter. The emphasis on 'moving fast' seemed to only apply when it benefited the company, not the candidate. I believe management needs to take ownership of this flawed process and provide genuine feedback, just as I did when hiring hundreds of people myself.

Had a really great interview experience. For me, it was 4 rounds in total. Each round was super straightforward and they explained everything really well. It was clear what the next steps were and the timeline was also clear. I got confirmation of what was happening next basically within 24 hours each time.

I applied in early October 2022 and never heard back from them. There wasn't even a confirmation I submitted my application. Then in mid January 2023, they emailed me saying they would not be moving forward with my application. It's been over 3 months.
