I applied via a third-party recruiter. I had a screening call with them, then another screening with OWC HR, and finally met with the hiring manager. It was a good interview experience overall. We discussed my background, past projects, my reasons for looking for a new job, what the OWC role involves, and how my experience aligns with their requirements. There were no LeetCode-style coding questions. Instead, I was asked a system design question related to their initial project idea for the role, and I provided a detailed plan for its implementation. The hiring manager also asked in-depth technical follow-up questions about projects I've worked on.

It was a full day of assessments that included an initial numeracy skills test with multiple sections, a personal presentation on a topic of your choice to assess your presenting skills, an interview discussing your resume and test results as well as any more of your background they find interesting/relevant, and finally a teamwork discussion.

Behavioral Technical Case

I had a phone interview with HR who gave me a timeline for hearing back. About 2-3 weeks past the date I was given, I was called in for an in-person interview. The interview was set up, but I never got a confirmation, directions (luckily I knew where it was), or specific instructions. I was scheduled to meet with five people for an hour each. I spent almost four hours there because one interviewer didn't show up. At no point was I offered a bathroom break, a drink, or food (I was there from around 10 am to 2 pm). I eventually asked an interviewer for water and to use the restroom, which they did, but had to scramble to find water. I did some writing tests and spoke with four people and the HR rep again. I offered to come back to meet the person who missed the interview. I offered work samples, references, and anything else they needed. I asked for the interviewers' emails to send thank you notes and finally got them several days later. I had already sent paper thank you letters by then. I was given a timeline for their decision, but as of now, I still haven't heard anything. If I take a day off to interview, you owe me a response, good or bad. The company is very focused on environmental responsibility, even having waterless toilets. While I support environmental responsibility, this company takes it to extremes. Most staff were friendly but clueless about interviewing and had few prepared questions. The facility was nice and would be a pleasant place to work.

I got a call from a Manager about an Admin position, even though I applied a month ago. The manager was nice, and we scheduled an interview for the next day. I arrived on time, and the manager said he loved my background and that I was hired. He told me to go home and wait for HR to call. It's been 3 weeks, and I don't think I'll get that call. I turned down another job for this one because it seemed like I had it in the bag, and the manager explicitly said I was hired. I just want to know if something fell through at the last minute or if the position was cancelled. It would be professional. I was excited, but now I'm back to square one. I guess I'll hear from them next month? I called back and left a voicemail, but no response.
