First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Overlake Medical Center and Clinics.
CNA/PCT
I applied online. Then, recruitment called me, explaining their goal to offer healthcare career opportunities and then set up an in-person interview with the department manager. At the time of the interview, they didn't have me on the schedule but interviewed me anyways. They said they'd call me for a second interview, but never did. After waiting about two weeks for an update, they emailed me to reject me.
- Are you currently enrolled in nursing school?
Communications Specialist
I had two interviews with HR, one with the hiring manager, and one with the team. After each, HR asked for feedback via email, which I gave. The HR rep called me after the team interview and left a voicemail about the position. I called back multiple times, but she never responded, which I found unprofessional given the number of interviews and follow-ups. It's a simple email to say they're going another direction.
- What motivates your interest in this role?
- Can you elaborate on your background and skills?
- What is your experience with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives?
Patient Care Technician
I sent in my application online. Then, I had a phone chat with the recruiter. After that, I went in for an onsite interview with the nurse managers for two different floors that were looking for PCTs. The managers were both really nice, and the recruiter was helpful and responsive. Since I already worked at Overlake in another role, my interview was in person. However, I think many interviews have been virtual lately due to COVID.
- Describe a situation where your attention to detail prevented a mistake.
- What are three of your strengths?
- What are three of your weaknesses?
Health Information Management Technician
Applied online and heard back from a regular staff member about two weeks later. The HIM manager wanted to interview me, but it had to be within two days, which was super short notice. The 1:1 interview with the HIM manager was in her office. She asked like 20 hard questions that really expected you to have worked in this field before. Some questions were kinda weird and probably not what she was supposed to ask. A group interview was supposed to be next, but I didn't make it to that part.
- Under what conditions would you break policy?
