First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Outerknown.
Director of Sustainability
It was going great until they suddenly mentioned the role was no longer remote and then they just ended the interview. It felt really strange to get that info and then have it stop so abruptly. I had to quickly ask more questions about remote work flexibility.
- Can you tell me about your past work experience?
Assistant Store Manager
The interview process was quick, to the point, and felt like a chat. I went through 3 rounds. First, I spoke with someone from talent recruitment, then with operational management, and finally, I met directly with my future manager. Everyone I met during these three stages was professional, nice, and kept me engaged.
- What are your personal insights into yourself as a professional?
- From a broader viewpoint, what are your insights regarding [topic]?
Product Developer
It was easy and the people had great attitudes, they were flexible to schedule. There were 2 rounds of interviews for the developer position. The people were really awesome, company ethics sounded great, and the perks were good. I had a tough time understanding the process.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Outerknown?
- Can you describe your relevant experience?
- How do your personal qualities align with managing demanding workloads?
Designer
A recruiter reached out about a designer position, being super positive and mentioning a flexible, hybrid schedule. Then, a meeting was set with the design and creative directors. In the meeting, they clarified that there's no hybrid schedule because the daily workload is heavy due to struggling product/sales. They seemed really uninterested the whole time. One director looked overwhelmed and worn out from their crazy schedule. The other kept asking random, irrelevant questions. The interview felt awkward and uncomfortable. Both directors seem unsure about the company's and product's future direction.
- Can you walk me through your portfolio?
- What makes you want to join Outerknown?
