The interview process was alright. The HR person made it sound like they really needed to hire someone and asked how soon I could start. I said two weeks. I got past the initial interview, and then I got the rejection letter. It's funny because I have many years of experience with the skills they asked for in the job description, and yet I still got two different emails with two different messages. One said, 'At this time, we have chosen to proceed with another candidate who has more experience that aligns with what we are looking for,' and the other said, 'As you can imagine, we have had many interested candidates in this position, and at this time, we're continuing to search for candidates that fit the role's needs closer.' I would say this company is looking for 'unicorn' employees who tick every box but are willing to work for minimum wage. $60k in Seattle is a joke, and all the other comments about the pay being bad are accurate.

I interviewed for the job remotely and then flew to Seattle for an in-person interview. They said I'd hear back quickly, but after no response, I emailed the recruiter who said a decision would hopefully be made by the end of the week. I followed up again the next week with no response, and finally got an automated reply saying the position was filled. I've interviewed a lot for jobs at both small and large companies, and I've never had such an impersonal experience with HR/Recruiting. It takes literally five minutes to write a quick email or make a call to say they've moved on with another candidate. I took time off work to fly to Seattle and meet the team. I was really disappointed by the company's lack of follow-through and overall respect. Besides that, Seattle seems like a great place with people excited about their jobs.

The interview process began with a phone call. After they reviewed my online portfolio, we moved on to the next stage. During the call, I was asked about past projects and my experience with Wordpress, which they use at the company. They've recently started using Magento, so a basic knowledge of that is also beneficial. A skills assessment was a key part of the interview, where I had to demonstrate my front-end skills within a 15-minute time limit.
