First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Our Sunday Visitor.
Marketing Manager
It was a three-part process. The first meeting was with the recruiter, the second with the hiring manager, and the final one was with the people who would be reporting to me. Each of these meetings lasted about 45 minutes and were conducted over Teams. They asked typical questions about my experience, what interests me about this role, and how I align with the company's mission. There were also a few behavioral questions thrown in. Overall, it was a pleasant and conversational experience.
- What makes you want to apply to OSV?
Sales
I had an immediate phone interview followed up with an in person interview with senior management and a team member. The phone interview was more like a conversation and interview was a lot of back and forth dialogue, a discussion really. Many of the questions focused on how I would fit into the team. In hindsight, it should have been a warning that perhaps group dynamics was a problem.
- Why did you apply given your experience level?
- How do you think you would integrate with the team?
Operations
I had a phone screen with HR, then I had an in-person interview with 5 managers. This involved an 8 hour drive to their HQ. Everything seemed to go well, and they said they'd get back to me. They talked a lot about their great corporate culture and how they care about people while serving the Church. That sounds nice, but it doesn't seem to apply to me since I didn't get the job. There was absolutely no follow-up from them, no communication, and no returned phone calls. It was totally unprofessional, and definitely not how they present themselves as a caring company.
- What is your daily self-motivation strategy?
Editor
The hiring and interview process started with the usual phone screen with HR. Then, there was a group interview over the phone with the hiring manager and other key people. After the phone interviews, I flew to Florida for an on-location interview. The on-site interview was a bit strange because nobody seemed to be expecting me, even though they had bought my airline ticket. It made me question if they had already hired someone else and forgotten about my interview.
