Customer Success Manager
The interview process at Otter was structured and efficient, consisting of three interview rounds followed by a case study assessment. The initial contact was made by the recruiter, Chelsea, who conducted a 30-minute screening interview. This round focused on fundamental questions. Chelsea deserves major kudos for her constant communication, support, and professionalism throughout the process, making the overall experience seamless and positive. The second round was with the department manager. This was an engaging and conversational interview, where they provided detailed insights into the role. The interview lasted about 40 minutes and included behavioral questions, which were expected to be answered using the STAR format. The third round was with the director and was relatively brief, around 20 minutes. Since the director was already familiar with my background, this round was more of a casual discussion rather than a formal interview. The final stage was a case study. The data provided was somewhat unclear, requiring analytical skills to interpret and present findings effectively. My key takeaway from this round was the importance of focusing on data visualization—utilizing graphs and charts to tell a compelling story rather than relying heavily on text. A well-structured presentation deck can make a significant difference in showcasing insights effectively.
- How do you handle competing priorities, especially when managing multiple customer accounts?
Customer Success Manager
The process was completely disorganized. For a leadership role, I was interviewed by stakeholders who weren't even going to be my future leader because the area leader (director) doesn't exist. In the final part, I had to prepare a business case presentation. They expect you to know how to calculate restaurant costs, which you definitely won't use in a SaaS company's daily routine. They expect you, in the middle of a pandemic, to go to a restaurant to gather data. They don't want a leader who understands the CS market, but someone who understands the restaurant routine (they are already prospecting candidates incorrectly). It feels like the interview was for the finance department instead of Customer Success. I don't understand why they select high-level executives for the interview and waste their time. It's an entirely ineffective process. Not to mention, it's a company that still doesn't allow its employees to change their LinkedIn profiles to say they work at Hubster and has several complaints on Reclame Aqui. I've interviewed many candidates, and without a doubt, this was the worst process I've ever experienced. If you want, I can offer consultancy on how to hire based on major multinational practices. You have a lot to learn.
- In the final stage, they wanted me to know the cost of restaurant expenses and the profit margin when comparing delivery versus in-person dining.
Customer Success Manager
I first did the HR screening. Then, I had to do a data analysis assessment. It was harder than I thought, and I didn't do well, so I didn't move on.
- Can you tell me about your experience that relates to this position?
