So I had this interview process, and they totally bait and switched me with a lower title after I passed everything. So, first, there was an hour-long behavioral interview with a third-party recruiter. Then came an hour-long coding take-home test with two programming problems and some fullstack engineering multiple-choice questions, basically Leetcode puzzles. They sent a mug if you finished it. After that, I talked to the VP of Engineering, who said my take-home was exceptional. This was a 30-minute, high-level technical chat. Then there were THREE hour-long whiteboarding sessions with different people, not coordinated at all. They'd introduce themselves and ask Leetcode medium questions. I aced all of them. They went silent for two weeks, then the recruiter asked for 3 references, which was weird. A few days later, during a call to discuss references, the recruiter tried to offer me a regular Software Engineer position instead of the Senior one, saying the pay would be the same. I pushed back, saying I met the requirements and aced the interviews. She tried to argue from my resume but then said she'd check if they could change it, mentioning that some people care about titles. I called them out on trying to get senior talent for junior pay. I ended up withdrawing my candidacy because of this unprofessional move after a month-long process with 5 interviews and a technical screen, all completed successfully. It felt like they just googled Leetcode questions and didn't know what they wanted, just senior talent for junior pay. I was worried about what else they might pull if I worked there.

After a referral, I had an initial chat about my background and the company. The next step was another interview where the interviewer seemed really uninterested, distracted, and disengaged, even looking at other things on his computer during our video call. He asked basic, uninteresting questions about my background and didn't seem involved in running the company. Two days after the call, I sent a follow-up. They replied after another two days saying they'd sync up the next day and get back to me, but I never heard back. Two days after that, I sent another follow-up, and still no reply. Three days later, I emailed again with no response. They promised to follow up but never did, which is unacceptable given they wasted my time interviewing.

I applied online and they were interested fast. They set up an initial phone call with their HR lead and a medical person. This later turned into a rescheduled call with just the HR person, which was super basic. They asked for my mailing address to send company swag (which I never received) and also to complete a writing assignment. It was pretty straightforward, though a bit hard to figure out how much detail to include and if they cared about the terminology definition for the training level, etc. After a lot of communication, I submitted my assignment on time with a cover note. Then... crickets. After a week, I emailed asking if they were still interested and quickly got a canned response saying they decided not to move forward, along with, hilariously, a whole page of self-care suggestions. I'll be fine, thanks.

The interview process started with a written/aptitude test, which is usually a screening round and pretty easy to pass. It had four sections: English proficiency, Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal reasoning, and a Technical written test. After that, there was a technical interview round, followed by an HR interview round. I think there was also a background check involved.
