It started with a recruiter screen. Then I had two 30-minute interviews with some engineering peers or leaders. The last interview was with the CTO for an hour. Honestly, the whole thing felt frustrating and maybe even unethical. They told me after the final interview that an offer was coming the next day. It didn't. I followed up, and they said it was still on its way. For the next 7 weeks, they kept saying it was coming, usually with some excuse for the delay. Then, surprise surprise, after 7 weeks from the verbal offer, they said the position was 'on hold.' I did see they just hired someone for a similar role recently.

I would steer clear of this company if I were you. The first warning sign was the initial recruiter phone screening. I got an email telling me to 'select a time on the calendar attached to the email' to book a call. However, there was no calendar, and trying to get in touch with the recruiter was a pain. After I finally connected with her days later, we scheduled the phone screening. The role sounded interesting, and the recruiter was really nice and professional. I waited for the scheduled time to be contacted for an interview with the hiring manager, but I was never reached out to. I kept having to follow up to see where they were in the process. I get that recruiters are busy, but it really felt like they were messing with me. Weeks went by before I finally interviewed with the hiring manager, who was the SVP of the department. He seemed completely disengaged, and after every answer I gave, his only response was 'Ok,' with no emotion or personality. I was told I'd hear back within two days for a panel interview with the team I'd be working with. It took almost two weeks, and I had to email the recruiter again to ask what was happening. We finally got the panel interview set up, and it was going well until it wasn't. There were six people on the Teams video call, including the SVP. The first half hour was fine, but then the SVP started getting aggressive with his questions and how he asked them. I felt uneasy but kept going. Then the questions became too personal and totally unrelated to the job I applied for. I didn't hesitate to end the call and move on with my day. I don't want to work with a team or company that gives off bad vibes and conducts interviews the way they did. Oh, and the SVP admitted they're struggling to find good candidates for the role. Makes you wonder, right? Look for jobs elsewhere.

It was a typical interview process. They asked about my past experiences, why I wanted to apply, what my strengths are, and what I could bring to the company. They stressed the importance of showing off writing and legal research skills. For law students, they also inquired about post-graduation plans and preferred areas of law. The whole thing was done in under 30 minutes.

Started with a good recruiter call where they were very open. Then talked to the hiring manager, which was alright, but it seemed like the company was disorganized. After following up with both, I got no responses, which was a bummer and not a good sign about the work environment. Honestly, I think I dodged a bullet and it's best to steer clear.
