First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Osborn Barr Paramore.
Social Copywriter
I had two interviews. The first was a 1:1 with a Creative Director who wanted to know about my creative process and how I applied it to my spec campaigns. The second interview was with two Creative Directors and they asked me similar questions, but really honed in on social media.
- What brands are you, as a Gen Z consumer, connecting with on social media right now?
Intern
The interview process was really smooth. The recruiter got in touch quickly and was efficient with communication. I had a phone interview within three days of the recruiter reaching out. Then, the following week, I had two Zoom interviews with different departments. They offered me the position just a week after those interviews. The whole thing was easy and smooth for me as an applicant; honestly, it's the smoothest process I've ever experienced.
- Can you describe your experience in agriculture?
- Could you share examples of branding strategy tactics you've used previously?
- Tell me about your copywriting experience, providing specific examples and explanations.
Graphic Designer
I applied for a Full Time Graphic Designer role and got a call back two weeks later to come in for an interview. The whole thing took about an hour. First, I chatted with HR for about 10-15 minutes, and they gave me the lowdown on the job. Then, I met with a Senior Art Director. They asked me to present about three of my portfolio projects. After that, we chatted more about the work at Osborn Barr and the team I'd be joining. It's kinda weird though, because I applied for a full-time gig, but when they offered me the job, it was for a 3-month freelance contract. I took it since I wanted the job, but it felt a bit like bait-and-switch.
- Can you elaborate on some of your portfolio projects, discussing the strategy and design process involved?
Public Relations Manager
I applied for an account manager job back in Summer 2012. It took them about two months to get back to me after I sent my initial email. They mentioned I was a good fit for a few different roles, so they had me come in for a full day of interviews. I ended up talking with three separate teams about two associate positions and one manager role. The interviews were kind of all over the place, and my interviewers didn't seem very prepared or interested, making them tough to read. Most of the questions were pretty standard: 'tell me about yourself,' 'your experience,' 'what do you know about the company,' etc. You really need to know the company and their clients (like USB and Monsanto) inside and out. Even though I applied for a manager position, they offered me an associate role instead. They said I could get a review in six months because they expected a 'perfect manager role' to open up for me around then. That never happened, and I never got that review. I ended up leaving after a year because of all the broken promises.
- What is your understanding of the United Soybean Board?
- Can you tell me what subjects you enjoy writing about and the reasons why?
