I applied for the E-mail Marketing Manager role. About two weeks later, I had a phone interview with HR that was a bit more than a basic screening. The next day, HR set up a phone interview with the hiring manager and HR manager, which lasted about an hour. A week after that, HR scheduled a 45-minute phone interview with the VP of E-Commerce. A few days later, HR called to arrange a trip to the HQ for an on-site interview with the team. They booked my travel through an agent, and I flew into Albany. Orvis provided lodging at a nice bed and breakfast in Manchester, and I got a welcome package with a gift card and tickets to local attractions. The night before the interviews, the hiring manager took me to dinner. The on-site interview itself lasted about six hours, involving meetings with around 12 people in small groups. My HR contact made sure I was comfortable. Although the interviews went well, the following Tuesday, I was informed they were moving forward with other candidates who had more direct experience. The hiring manager mentioned they didn't have many qualified applicants initially, probably because of the location. I think I made a good impression, but they likely got more suitable candidates after my visit. Despite not getting the job, it was a positive experience.

The interview process was straightforward. It included multiple phone interviews with employees from different departments and levels. The final interview was a video conference, which ran smoothly. The Orvis team provided accurate timelines for follow-up interviews. There were few personality or situational questions. All interviews focused on past experience, allowing applicants to present their qualifications in relation to job requirements. Each interview aimed to understand the applicant's personality and how they could contribute to the position and organizational culture.

I applied online and heard back from HR in a few days. Then I had a second interview with the hiring manager, followed by a final round with the whole team. They asked for my references shortly after. About two weeks later, I got a call with an offer and an email with the employment details the same day. I had a few days to decide. It was an intern position. I had to decline for personal reasons, but I really enjoyed speaking with everyone and thought it would have been a good fit if things were different externally. Overall, it was a great experience.

Orvis contacted me for an interview 10 months after I submitted my application. I quickly realized they favor group interview settings. My first interview involved 10 people, and the second had about 15. These were divided into smaller groups of 2-4 people for each meeting. The whole process was quite extensive, lasting a full day on two separate occasions, meeting people non-stop. I ended up completely drained after each day and was even invited to have dinner with staff on one of those nights. It felt like it was just too much.
