Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Orum.
Software Engineer
This was by far the best interview process I've experienced. It included multiple technical screens and many chances to learn about the team and company culture. The technical screens were tough but fair, accurately reflecting the challenges of the job. I really enjoyed meeting the team members; everyone I spoke with was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Orum made a real effort to be transparent and keep the process smooth. My recruiter was amazing, going out of their way to support me, which was a pleasant surprise. My interview with Orum felt almost too good to be true after difficult experiences at other companies.
- Under what management style do you think you'd do your best work?
Software Engineer
The interview process generally followed the standard steps for software engineering roles. The initial recruiter call was more in-depth than usual, but it was essentially a discussion about my past work. The assessments and technical rounds weren't focused on LeetCode-style problems but were more practical and collaborative. They were challenging due to their unique nature but better than abstract brain teasers. The whole process wrapped up in under two weeks because we were trying to work around holiday schedules and needed to finish quickly.
- What is your experience with our specific stack, and Node.js in particular?
- Can you share an example of dealing with competing priorities?
- How do you approach situations with a high degree of ambiguity?
Software Engineer
There was an online coding test on Coderpad. They made us turn on our cameras, which felt a bit much. It took 2 hours and had 3 coding questions along with some trivia.
- Can you explain how to join multiple tables and then sort the results?
