First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Orion Advisor Technology.
Compliance Analyst
There were 3 interviews. First, I spoke with the recruiter. Then, I had a chat with the manager of the department. Lastly, I met with the Chief Compliance Officer. I think it went pretty well, they seemed surprised by my experience and how I'm different from the usual candidate, not just repeating my resume.
- What are your typical experiences?
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle X?
- Tell me about your experience with Y.
DevOps Engineer
I talked to the manager Greg and he seemed interested in grooming a software engineer into a DevOps role. It was a long process, taking months and over 4 interviews. They even had me talk to a software engineer lead to confirm my software skills. The company has a lengthy process and communication was poor. After inquiring weeks after my last interview, I got the rejection. It's not worth the effort to interview here; they take their time and don't give feedback. It's frustrating when they show interest and put you through so many rounds, especially for the pay.
- Tell me about your AWS knowledge.
- What is your experience with DevOps concepts?
- Can you explain the SOLID principles?
Project Management Director
I applied on the company's career page. The first step was a phone screen with a recruiter. They rescheduled the call twice last minute and then showed up late to the actual call acting like it was no big deal. She asked basic questions like she was just reading from a script and didn't seem genuine. They claim to have diverse leadership, but looking at their leadership page, that's not the case. She said she'd get back to me in a few days about the next steps, but I never heard from her. The interview ratings on Glassdoor are pretty telling.
- Tell me what you know about our company.
- What prompted your departure from your current role?
- What led to you leaving your previous position?
Financial Data Analyst
Applied online and got an email that my experience was good and the pay was 44k, they asked if it was enough. Talked back and forth with a recruiter, did an online assessment, had a simple phone interview, then they wanted me to come in person. Was supposed to get a confirmation email but it never came. Tried to reach them but no response, so I just showed up at the scheduled time. Had to wait for the hiring manager. The hiring manager seemed nervous, dismissive, and condescending. They only asked behavioral questions and took notes on my answers. The whole thing took weeks.
- How do you define success?
- Can you describe a past failure?
- Can you describe a past success?
