First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oriental Bank.
Retail Channel Representative
First, you do a Zoom interview. If you got referred by the recruitment company, you'll have two more interviews directly with Oriental. The questions will be mostly the same for both of these, with two different employees interviewing you.
- Tell me about a time you helped a customer.
- Describe your approach to managing upset customers.
Virtual Teller
I applied online and after more than a month, HR called me for a screening interview. Then I had a second interview with the hiring manager. The HR interview went well, but the hiring manager interview was terrible. They were so unprofessional, kept interrupting me, and had a nasty attitude and horrible tone when I asked them questions. They were also arrogant. It made me think about the company culture. I didn't even get to see their faces during the virtual interview, but they wanted me to turn my camera on. A few days later, I discovered they reposted the job ad, so I was ghosted. It's disrespectful and unprofessional not to respond to candidates.
- Tell me what you know about Oriental.
Information Technology Advisor
The people were really nice and they explained the job and what it entails. They also made sure to leave time for me to ask questions. They were also very quick to answer my questions, both the employees and people who have worked there. The questions were at my level, and they didn't mind if I didn't know the answer because they were happy to teach me.
- Considering you have options in the states, what would be your reasons for accepting a position on the island?
- Could you discuss your knowledge regarding Russian hackers?
Sales Associate
The interview process was short and engaging. It included comprehensive training and communication. The HR team was approachable and professional, making the whole process positive. Their education program is well-structured, though it's only in San Juan, which is inconvenient for those elsewhere on the island.
- What tools would you use to meet sales goals?
