I first spoke with the Director of Technology, who wanted to check my culture fit and skills. They were really upfront about what they were looking for and what they expected from a candidate. After that, I met with someone from the People and Culture team for some culture-based questions. She was super engaging and was happy to talk about any part of the company, giving a clear idea of their values and how teams collaborate. Lastly, I interviewed with some of the design/development team members to discuss my industry experience, my working style, and do some front-end skills assessments. They shared details about their current tech stack. When I wasn't completely sure about something, they readily explained what they needed and how it applied to their business, which was great for learning. Overall, it was a fantastic interview experience from start to finish.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Applied online via LinkedIn, I believe. The first part was a group Culture Screening at HQ, where they said we could dress comfortably/casually; it was all about personality. Next, I had an in-person interview with my potential manager, the Director of Marketing, and also the Product Project Manager to review my skills and past work. I was told there would be a follow-up interview with the CMO, but it didn't happen because of scheduling. The whole thing took over 4 weeks. Honestly, I was bummed to learn during the in-person interview that it was a part-time role (it wasn't advertised as PT on the listing, but they said it could become full-time). It was the longest process I've been through, but I liked that it was broken down. It was great to get a feel for the company and see if I'd fit in with people I might be around 40 hours a week. It felt really personal, which I haven't experienced in other interviews. Even though I found out it was just PT, after the interview process, I knew I wanted to join this company.

Behavioral Technical Other

So first, I had to answer three questions on the application about what I’d do if I joined the company. Then, I got an email for a cultural assessment, which had three personality tests (one even asked about love language, which is weird for a job). I also had to listen to a podcast and answer three thoughtful questions about the business. After that, there was a video interview with HR/recruiting, but it was only about culture fit, not my actual skills. The hiring manager makes the decision after this. The recruiter told me I’d get an email if the hiring manager wanted to interview me, but if not, I wouldn’t hear back at all, not even a courtesy email after doing all those personality tests and answering business-related questions. If I had moved forward, I would have had to do an assignment, which I’m not a fan of doing for free.

I was contacted by the talent manager. She mentioned that the owner was impressed with my work history and achievements. She then discussed the company's young demographic and the challenges of managing them. She informed me about the next steps after a video interview. Ultimately, I was not selected, with the reason being that they were looking for candidates who better matched the requirements. My interpretation is that they are not looking to hire anyone over 30-35, which I find questionable given the company's diversity.
