First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oregon Health & Science University.
Program Coordinator
So, I had some online panel interviews, like 3-4 people were interviewing me, and it was multiple interviews. The final ones were in early January. After Jan 14, I didn't hear anything back, even when I sent emails asking for updates. I ended up withdrawing my application because it took so long and they weren't communicating.
- Could you explain your interest in OHSU?
- What specific skills do you possess that would be beneficial for this role?
- Can you share an example of a challenge you encountered and how you successfully navigated it?
Administrative Coordinator
I applied online and the hiring manager reached out fairly quickly after the job posting closed. The first phone interview seemed to go well, and they asked standard questions. A few days later, the hiring manager contacted me again to set up a panel interview, which also went smoothly with no unexpected questions. The hiring manager mentioned that the final decision would require several approvals and that I'd hear back in 2-3 weeks. It's now been more than 8 weeks, and I haven't heard anything. I followed up with the hiring manager via email after 6 weeks, but got no reply. I'm guessing they hired someone else, so their silence is my answer, but ghosting candidates is unprofessional. They should at least inform candidates they weren't chosen.
- Can you explain how your experience, skills, and knowledge align with the requirements of this role?
Project Coordinator
So after I applied, they sent me an email pretty fast asking for a phone interview in a couple of days. It was with HR, which was great, not just 'cause I got the interview, but she was super nice and easy to talk to, which really helped. Then, I had two in-person interviews. The first one was with a group of people I'd be working with a lot. They went around asking questions, and I got to ask them stuff too, with plenty of time. The last interview, I met with like 4 or 5 different execs, one after the other, for about an hour each.
- Tell me about your work style.
- What motivates you to pursue a career in this industry?
- Could you share some examples of projects you've managed previously?
