Coding Technical Other

It was a long process with about 6-7 rounds, which they let you know upfront. I made it to 4 of those rounds. The first technical round involved a coding challenge using Tensors and Sentence transformers, which they didn't mention it was a coding challenge even after I asked. The second technical interview was a take-home assignment. During the review, the interviewer focused on how to productionize the take-home code and wanted me to write down the steps instead of just discussing them, which seemed like a red flag. It became clear they were using the interview to get free consulting work. I kept my answers high-level. I was rejected 3 days later.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

There were four interviews over two weeks. Two interviews with the department's Director, one with the person currently in the role, and another with a leader from the Talent team. There was also a practical exercise, and they mentioned reference checks. However, they didn't ask for my references because they decided to go in a different direction after the four interviews and the practical exercise. I found this out after sending two follow-up emails in the third week. A few tips for future candidates: for the practical exercise, try using tables and bullet points instead of long paragraphs. Even if your content is 'strong,' they want to see clear and simple language. Also, the experience they list on the job description might actually be looking for more than what's stated.

Technical Behavioral

The interview process was quite disappointing. Initially, I had an interview scheduled with the Hiring Manager for Collections, which was adequate and fairly straightforward. The second interview was with a Senior Accountant, someone I wouldn't be directly working with. This person went into more detail about the workload and disclosed the salary budget for the role, which was between $30K and $35K. This was surprising as the hiring manager had initially offered me only $25/hr for 20 hours a week. I tried to follow up with the hiring manager about my role and salary negotiability, but I never received a response. Eventually, I got a generic email from the hiring team stating I wouldn't be proceeding further.

I had a phone call with Chris. He was really good at setting up the interview, sending calendar invites and explaining the format beforehand. He also described the role well, and we both realized it might not be the best fit. But he was so nice and positive throughout, I felt great about it and wanted to leave a review.
