First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Orbitz Worldwide.
Manager
I had 1 phone screen with HR, followed by 2 onsite interviews with various managers and a VP. At times the interviewers did most of the talking - so I knew it was going well. One of them did ask me a technical question which I admitted I did not know the answer to and it was ok. Overall everyone was nice and had interesting questions for me.
- If hired at Orbitz, what would be your initial actions in the first few days?
Manager
I had two phone interviews, the first with the HR rep and the second with the hiring manager. After the initial phone screening, HR set up a call with the hiring manager. We scheduled a 30 minute conversation and the hiring manager called on time. The call seemed to go well, as after 20 minutes, the hiring manager said she wanted to bring me in for an in person interview and would talk to HR the following week to set it up. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday passed with no word. On Thursday, I reached out to the original HR contact to see if there had been a decision. HR said they would check with the hiring manager and get back to me. Eventually, the HR contact called on Friday and left a voicemail stating the hiring manager decided to move forward with another candidate. While that's fine, my ask is to be upfront. If you might move forward with someone else, just say you'll get back to me. Don't tell me you want to bring me in and then go back on your word a week later. This sets off a red flag for me, and it's just bad recruiting etiquette. This experience sours my impression of Orbitz.
- Can you share your background?
- Could you walk me through your resume?
- Can you share an example of a time when you led a team?
Implementation Manager
I talked to 6 different people over the course of two weeks. Each interview went over different parts of the job and my background relating to it. After a couple of weeks, I asked the recruiter if the job had already been given to someone else, and she said yes.
- What is something your coworkers would say you need to improve on?
