An external recruiter contacted me, so I first spoke with them. Then, I had an initial conversation with the head of platform engineering. Following that, I completed a one-hour coding assessment on Coderpad with a senior engineer. I was then quickly invited for a virtual 'onsite' which included two more coding interviews, some cross-functional/HR discussions, and an interview with the VP of Engineering. Overall, it was a really good experience with engaging conversations and tough but reasonable coding problems. I especially liked talking to the VP of Engineering; they really sold me on the company and patiently addressed all my follow-up questions.

The interview process was great, everyone was really kind and welcoming. They seemed to understand that interviews can be stressful, so they made sure to allow time for breaks, Q&A, and general getting-to-know-you chats, which I really appreciated. The people there seemed very smart! My mentor, who is one of the smartest and most technically capable people I know, really liked this company. It was his stamp of approval, which is hard to get, that made me decide to accept this offer.

It was a phone screen first, pretty easy. Then an on-site interview where I met with the VP, who was really encouraging. After that, there were four technical rounds. The interviews were tough, but I managed. Then the recruiter called and said I didn't get the job because they wanted someone with more experience, even though I'm a new grad. That was unprofessional.
