I submitted an online application after I chatted with a recruiter at a university job fair. They reached out to me via email to schedule an interview. The first interview was with the director of product development and the recruiter. It was a really good conversation, and I felt comfortable speaking with both of them. They asked standard interview questions, like how I would handle a situation where my project got canceled, which they said was due to an engineer taking things too personally. I later got an email for a second interview, this time to meet with the entire product development engineering team. They seemed like a great bunch, and I felt like I'd fit in well. The only sticking point was the starting salary, which was a bit lower than I anticipated, especially since I had another job offer concurrently.

We advertise jobs on sites like Monster.com and KSL.com. HR and the hiring manager screen resumes based on job fit, experience, availability, and salary expectations. About 10-20 candidates move to the phone interview stage. The hiring manager or HR will call to further assess fit, often disqualifying based on availability or a big salary gap. This narrows it down to 5-8 people. If needed, the hiring manager will rank them. The remaining candidates come in for face-to-face interviews with the manager (and maybe HR). This interview is about assessing personality, demeanor, attitude, experience, and long-term plans. It gets the pool down to 2-3. These finalists go to lunch with the teams they'd work with to see how they interact and mesh. The final decision is made based on this lunch, with input from the team. An offer can be made in person or over the phone. If verbally accepted, a confirmation email with offer details is sent.

First, HR screens your resume. Then, the top candidates' resumes go to the supervisor of the open position. The supervisor reviews them and tells HR who they're interested in. HR does a phone interview, and then appointments are set for interviews with the supervisor.

HR does a phone or in person interview, unless you're a current employee. Then the second/final interview is a panel interview with the hiring manager, the director, HR and anyone else they think is important. Questions are the regular interview ones.
