So, first you have a quick chat to see if you're a good fit. Then, there are technical interviews where they really dig into your engineering knowledge, how you tackle problems, and what projects you've worked on. They might also ask you behavioral questions, go over your past projects, and chat about how you work with others and communicate.

So for the first round, it's usually a phone or video chat, you know, over Zoom or Teams or something. You'll probably chat with a recruiter, the hiring manager, or someone from the team. They'll likely ask you a mix of technical, behavioral, and situational questions. Be ready to talk about your background, past experiences, why you want to work here, and how you fit the role. Sometimes they might give you a little assignment or a problem to solve too. If you make it past that first chat, the second round is usually more in-depth. It could be in person or virtual, depending on what the company prefers and where you are. This part might have a few interviews with different people, like technical folks, managers, or people from other teams. You might have to do some technical stuff, work through case studies, solve actual problems, or do some role-playing. It's also your chance to ask more detailed questions about the team, the company vibe, and the challenges of the job.

The interview included a formwork technical test that lasted about an hour and a half. It covered concepts in structural analysis, like drawing diagrams for bending moment, shear, and axial loads. We also discussed cases of concrete pressure distribution, material densities, and different stresses in steel. The test also required creating an AutoCAD draft and a Sap2000 model.

The interview process involved a recruiter call, followed by a technical screen, and then an onsite interview. There were several questions asked covering a range of topics. You can expect to be asked about your design experience, teamwork, problem-solving using logic, meeting deadlines, your qualifications as a mechanical engineer, persuading clients, using data for decisions, applying mechanical engineering skills outside of work, key career learnings, and your familiarity with computer programs.
