Applied and got a callback within a week to set up an interview. First, it was a phone interview, and then they set up a one-on-one in-person interview right after. That interview was on a Friday afternoon and it went pretty well. The tough part was answering specific technical questions about the role. We also talked about strategy and the company's direction. Got the job offer within 2 business days.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I applied online and heard back in 4 days. The SEO Specialist role required a 4-year degree and at least 1 year of SEO experience, while the Account Manager role preferred a degree and needed 2+ years of account management and 1+ year of online marketing. I felt qualified with my 2 years of marketing experience and projects. I had a video interview, and then a one-on-one interview. Before the 1-on-1, I checked their Google+ page and saw negative reviews about account managers not communicating with clients, which was surprising for a marketing company. The office had many young employees and seemed focused on client numbers and revenue rather than work quality. They seemed to offer expertise despite requiring little experience. I realized about halfway through that the job wasn't for me. When I asked about the work environment and daily tasks, I learned that each account manager handles 40-175 clients, explaining the communication issues. The hour-long interview was followed by a tour of cubicles; the quiet environment seemed unusual for a young workforce, and the dress code was inconsistent, ranging from business casual to shorts and t-shirts. I prefer a more professional setting. I was also given a challenging "homework" assignment that seemed difficult to complete without knowing their client handling policies. They didn't acknowledge how my skills fit the position. Most questions, including role-playing, focused on handling being overworked. I later emailed to withdraw my application, and received a "no-reply" email stating I didn't get the job.

Behavioral Technical

I had 3 one-on-one interviews back to back. They are really optimistic and after learning about your skills they want to know more about you personally. They want to know if you are dependable and get along with others. The culture is pretty laid back, but they want people who will take ownership of their responsibilities, work well under pressure, and keep a positive attitude. And you absolutely need to know something about online marketing.

I went through two interviews. The first one was with the manager who oversees the Direct Account Managers, and the second one was with their boss. Both interviews were good, and they used role-playing to see how I would handle different kinds of situations.
