Sales Associate
If you're interested in this Sales Associate role, you can apply online or in person. First up, a recruiter or hiring manager might give you a quick phone call to ask some basic questions and see how you communicate. If that goes well, you could get called in for an in-person interview. Here, they'll likely ask about your sales skills, how well you communicate, and if you can work on your own. They might also want to know about your past sales work, your strategies for cold calling, how you deal with being turned down, and if you're okay with flexible hours. Some places might also have you do a role-play, acting out a sales pitch with them or a pretend customer. If they're thinking about hiring you, they'll probably check your references to confirm your work history and how you performed. They might also run a background check to make sure you don't have a criminal record. If you're the one they pick, they'll offer you the job and go over the pay, benefits, and other employment details.
- Can you share your past sales experience and highlight your successes?
- How do you deal with rejection or with a customer who isn't satisfied with our product or service?
- Tell us about an instance where you exceeded expectations to ensure a customer was happy.
Business Development Associate
I got a text asking if I could interview with their Director the next day. I said yes and got an email with a Zoom link, and they told me to do my research. The interview was really uncomfortable from the start, and I didn't even know who I'd be talking to. I joined the Zoom call during another meeting. They asked what state I was from and then put me in a breakout room. The interviewer showed up a bit late and brought up someone else's resume, calling me by that name. I told them my name, which was right there on the screen. They asked me to spell it a few times. A lot of the questions were weird and not really about the job. They said it was a sales role, not like the description. The interviewer asked me to fill out a form with references, and said their clients would contact them to decide if I'd get the job. Then they asked if I'd come to the office for a second interview after the clients talked to my references. I said no, that I didn't think it was a good fit. The interviewer finished by saying, 'Well just to let you know, we interview up to 100 candidates per day. Best of luck to you.' Overall, the interviewer was unprofessional, asked a lot of inappropriate questions, and it was all very vague beforehand.
- Can you tell me about your previous roles in _ and _?
- Do you know the names of our clients?
- Given that this is an in-office position, are you alright with that?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process was refreshing. I was initially nervous because I had no prior marketing or sales experience, but they offer an in-depth training program for 3-6 weeks, which is paid as long as you attend. The company was very friendly and transparent about the initial 3-6 months involving half office and half field work, transitioning to an office role afterward. This arrangement was fine with me as they conduct quarterly evaluations to help employees grow into HR or financial departments. My interviewer, the campaign manager, addressed all my questions and concerns clearly. They seemed like the only company in the past six months that genuinely wants its employees to succeed.
- Suppose you were tasked with managing a political campaign, what would be your approach?
- In your opinion, what distinguishes a strong candidate from a weak one?
- Considering the challenges, why are you drawn to sales and marketing instead of a conventional office job?
Sales Representative
So I had an interview back in September 2023. The manager, Scott, was really nice and super easy to chat with. I actually liked the interview and wasn't too stressed out. Just gotta make sure you know a bit about the company and why you're keen to join them. They didn't ask too many questions, and they were pretty straightforward to answer.
- Can you tell me what you know about Opulence Management and the reasons you'd want to join our company?
