Principal Software Engineer
Had an HR call first. Then a take-home assignment, which was an easy coding task. After that, a technical interview with the hiring manager and a principal engineer. Overall, it was a good interview experience. The assignment wasn't difficult and didn't require a huge time commitment. The engineering manager was good at assessing skills through a friendly technical chat.
- In a production environment, how would you tackle a performance issue?
Software Engineer
I applied on Linkedin and after they reviewed my profile, the HR contacted me for an assessment. A week or two later, I got the assessment link. After I cleared it, they sent me a link for a technical interview with a lead engineer and a manager. They were both from different countries and the experience was top-notch, more of a discussion. I was amazed by how knowledgeable the interviewers were. The next day, I got a call saying I was selected, but they didn't release the offer letter and kept me waiting. I called the HR multiple times about the offer letter status, and she kept saying not to worry, it would just be delayed. After a month, she called saying they might have an open position and discussed salary and joining date again. But 3-4 days later when I contacted the HR again, she told me I wouldn't be getting the offer letter because other candidates were asking for much less than I was, and my expectations were too high. She said that's just how the company culture is and it's my decision if I want to join.
- Can you write code to handle conversion between Camel Case and Snake Case?
- Do you recall the second programming question?
Software Engineer
The whole interview process wrapped up in a week, ending with the final F2F interview. It was a really good interview experience, no paper or pencils involved, we coded on a board. After the telephonic interview, they invited me for the face-to-face interview, which had a panel of two interviewers.
- Can you give a presentation about your current project, detailing its workings and your specific contributions?
- How would you design the server-side of a chat application to manage a fixed number of clients, and what system calls would be involved?
- Could you design a Logger class, implementing the Singleton design pattern, and provide the ST class with an explanation?
