The office environment felt relaxed but still professional, and the HR folks were really nice. I had my first interview at the main office with an HR person. When I got called back for the second interview, I met with the manager of the site where I'd be working to talk about the job. The manager presented me with hypothetical scenarios about how I'd handle unexpected client problems and emergencies. Apparently, I handled them well because I got a job offer within a few days after that second interview. Just so you know, you also have to pass a TD/PPD test and do fingerprinting for the OMH before you can start working.

Most of the time, job openings are found on careerbuilder, and that's where the most up-to-date listings are. There are usually three interviews: one with HR, one with the Community Residence coordinator, and another with a program director. When you interview with the CR coordinator, it's important to ask questions. They want to see how serious and committed you are, so show your interest. With the program director, discuss your experience in mental health care extensively; this can help increase your starting pay. HR handles reference checks! If your references don't check out, you might not get the job, based on what I've heard. If you're referred by a friend or someone already working here, just be aware that you won't be placed at the same house or workplace.
